Synopsis
A new field of mental health is on the horizon. During an epidemic of veteran suicides, psychedelic therapy is proving 83% effective in curing treatment resistant PTSD.
With the final phase of clinical trials underway in Vancouver and worldwide, a young team of therapists are training to apply this new and exciting program to the evolving study of human consciousness.
The clinical trial is helmed by a non-profit and 100% of the 1.5 millions of dollars in funding for the Vancouver study are coming from individuals.
Through the lense of trauma, we are shown how the psychedelic MDMA is capable of repressing fear and enhancing empathy. Most of the healing takes place during the Peak Experience, which is usually described as mystical in nature. While it may appear that the spiritual experience is delivered in a pill, the magic is not in fact in the pill, but between us.
Much of the patient’s ability to feel trust again rests on the shoulders of the therapist administering the psychedelic assisted psychotherapy. The standardization of this treatment may yet prove to be the most complicated part of the legalization of a schedule 1 illicit drug.
Six impressive and accomplished young mental health practitioners are on the adventure of being the first legally trained psychedelic therapists in Canada.
